Nizar is a founder member and the CEO of the UHA. He was a former Head of Environmental Health and Consumer Services, worked for the Local Government Ombudsman and London Central mosque as an advisor to the Director General on Islamic and technical issues including food safety and Halal. He is qualified in Environmental Health, Administration and Law. Prior to setting up of his organisation he worked for 4 different Local authorities with specialist interest in food hygiene and safety. He is advisor to several organisations and is currently on the Advisory Board of the EU Dialrel project on religious slaughter. He has written several articles for trade and professional journals, gives talks to mosques and centres and appeared on TV and other media. He offers training at all levels of Food hygiene and Health and Safety, halal food training to managements of various food manufacturing companies and recently he pioneered a special module of a certificated course in Food Safety for Halal Food Handlers in partnership with the Royal Society for Public Health.
Nizar undertakes several other public duties such as visiting prisons and hospitals as Muslim chaplain to lead prayers, give advice and undertake kitchen audits and advises private and public bodies as and when required on issues relating to Halal food.
Practice in all branches of Environmental Health and Protection at three major London boroughs occupying position of Deputy and Chief Officer in environmental health and consumer protection.
